Powell was elected president of the Carolina Cooperative Council at the final meeting of the 1953-54 Coun cil year at Consolidated Central Y.M.C.A. Thursday evening. May 20. Cecil Squires was elected vice president and J. K. McConnell was reelected sec retary. H. E. Williams was named assistant secretary and the following were elect ed committee chairmen: G. T. Sykes, attendance; R. E. New, refreshments; and R. L. Seay, constitution. R. T. In gram was elected a member of the program committee of which J. G. Com- mins is chairman. Harold W. Whitcomb, president of the Company, spoke to the group con cerning current business conditions. Members of the Junior Carolina Coun cil attended the meeting as guests. The invocation was given by the Rev. H. Fletcher Lambert, pastor of Spray Bap tist Church. Rug Sales Manager HUGH FEELEY . . • Rugr Sales Official . . . Appointment of Hugh Feeley as as sistant sales manager of Karastan, rug and carpet division of Fieldcrest Mills, Inc., has been announced by Walter B. Guinan, sales manager of Karastan. Appointment is effective June 1, and Mr. Feeley will report directly to Mr. Guinan. A veteran of nearly 30 years in the carpet field, Mr. Feeley leaves Robert Levin Carpet company, Cleveland, Ohio, to join Karastan. Has Good Background Before his association with Levin, which began in 1950, he was with Bige- low-Sanford Carpet Company for 16 years, first as sales manager of Lok- weave carpets, later as manager of the New York War Sales district, the Kan sas City district and the Detroit district, respectively. He was previously associated with Collins and Aikman, Goodall-Sanford, the wholesale division of W. and J. Sloane and B. Altman and company. Mr. Feeley has been an active mem ber of Carpet Clubs in Kansas City, De troit and Cleveland.
